Vieroplast is an acrylic mortar with the workability of a smooth-finish stucco. Let’s discover this product together through a brief technical clarification and retracing one by one the effects that can be obtained with it.
“Resins have been added to Vieroplast’s formulation – explains Fabrizio Da Prato, master decorator of Viero Decoratives – that bind different grain sizes of aggregates, such as sand. When the product is applied, these grain sizes remain visible, not so much to the touch as to the sight. Vieroplast acrylic mortar is ready to use and can be tinted. Therefore, even for this material, a specific colour chart is available, that allows it to be used as a coloured finish. It can be applied with a spatula, sanded or texturised with rollers and specific tools. Its main feature is versatility, because it is a rather plastic material and therefore it is possible to draw on it, as well as engrave and sand it. In particular, we have used it as a mortar to prepare the backgrounds of many projects created for Made in Tuscany. Especially in the Terre Etrusche line, to create backgrounds that simulate metals such as gold and silver. This is because Vieroplast is perfect for being patinated with enamels and metallic paints. Everything always water-based”. And now, let yourself be inspired by all decorative effects…
“Stone” effect, created with Vieroplast acrylic mortar
Ideal for natural environments, with a traditional look, the Stone effect – once applied – appears irregular and slightly wavy. As the name suggests, this finish recalls the surface of a worked stone, rough and wrinkled. The application of the Vieroplast plaster can be protected with Naturwax wax, for greater shine. The design is by Polidori & Barbera.
“Wood”, for walls that evoke the warmth of wood
Made with Vieroplast and Bitume Decorativo (to give a slightly aged look), this effect is inspired by the relaxing atmospheres of Northern Europe and hugs the environment in a warm and charming embrace. The striped patterns and shades of teak, wenge and iroko wood recall the relaxing appearance of tree bark.
The shaping power of Vieroplast gives life to “Corduroy”
Another effect created using Vieroplast acrylic mortar is Corduroy, inspired by ribbed velvet. Extremely refined and sophisticated, Corduroy adapts well to different settings and suits different styles. Designed by Polidori & Barbera, it combines the rigour of geometry and the voluptuousness of matter. In short, a unique texture to dress up your rooms!
Meditative and elegant walls with the “Cenere” effect
Intimate and refined, the Cenere decorative effect is characterised by vertical stripes and is available in different dusty shades of wood ash, evoked here through the shaping power of Vieroplast, in synergy with decorative bitumen.
Vieroplast in the “Made in Tuscany” effects
To better show the potential of Vieroplast as a fundamental support to give a solid structure to the creativity of every decorator, this highly malleable acrylic mortar has been used several times in the Made in Tuscany collection by Viero Decoratives. For example, in the Terre Etrusche line, the combination of Vieroplast and Erametal creates Vatluna, a decorative effect inspired by the ancient Etruscan metalworking. The same basic ingredients are also used for Zamathi, a luminous and precious effect that puts the spotlight on walls created through freehand engraving in the modelling paste. By adding Allure to Vieroplast and Erametal, our decorators have designed Clevsin, a three-dimensional effect enriched with golden microgranules that gives depth and warmth to interiors and recalls the splendour of ancient Rome. Finally, the Barricaia effect in the Bolgheri line is worth mentioning. This effect, obtained with Ghibli, Vieroplast and Viero Vel, is inspired by the interiors of barriques, the small wooden barrels used for wine ageing. The chromatic nuances, rich in bright accents and tone-on-tone veining, abstractly reinterpret the mark left by red wine in barriques. The result obtained is a relaxed decorative effect with a strong aesthetic impact, designed to complement any design harmoniously.
