The Corduroy effect is one of the most popular decorative wall finishes in the Viero Decoratives catalogue. It’s a signature effect designed by Polidori.Barbera Design, a dynamic partnership formed by Luisa Polidori and Cristiana Barbera, who has also designed another nature-inspired finish with Viero Decoratives, called Stone.Corduroy is an effect with a strong aesthetic identity, capable of evoking a series of sensations related not only to sight, but also touch and emotion, as it’s particularly enveloping, textured, and sensual. Matte, thick, and defined by its succession of three-dimensional lines that transport it to the refined dimension of bas-reliefs, Corduroy is created by the decorators using the Vieroplast product, an acrylic-based paste coating for interiors available in various colours.
It’s ideal for creating highly customizable decorative effects (another example is our Wood effect, with the addition of decorative bitumen) and can be used on its own or combined with other decorative finishes from the Viero Decoratives line.Corduroy is very versatile and can be applied in contemporary, cosmopolitan spaces with a sophisticated flavour, as well as more classic environments to create a warm and extremely enveloping atmosphere. With this effect, the wall can even become a protagonist in the form of an accent wall, adding to the five ideas we previously suggested in another article on our blog.We want to highlight two projects in particular in private residences, created by our partners from the Viero Decoratives community, who achieved an excellent aesthetic result using the Corduroy decorative effect for walls.
Courduroy effect for elegant and contemporary walls in two private residences in the UK
The Corduroy decorative effect was chosen to decorate a wall along a pool, gym, and lounge area of a private villa in the UK. This finish was used to create a rather accentuated three-dimensional effect, adding character yet extremely refined. The result is a contemporary interpretation of the space also inspired by nature, even chromatically speaking. Applied in more earthy tones, Corduroy was instead used to create an enveloping effect on the walls of a private home in London.
